"Hi there, I have decided to leave Kasms, bands are complicated, dynamics and relationships change over the years you spend together in a band, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. I've had a lot of good times in Kasms, it has been great spending time and making music with some of my oldest and dearest friends but the dynamic has changed heavily over the last year and I no longer feel comfortable in my surroundings and have decided to concentrate on my other creative persuits, such as recording bands. I may start making more music at some point but have no idea in what capacity at the moment.

Lot's of love to the rest of the band, I hope Kasms continue to make great music and play great shows. Also, without being too corny, thanks to anyone who came to see us play and bought our records, it was a nice surpise when it turned out people liked the music we were making! - Rory"

This is the house next door to my mums, Streetview is everywhere now! I have told a few people about this house. it used to me more prominent than this. I heard a story when I was a kid that it was built on top of a massive underground medieval dungeon by an old german war criminal who was also a cyclops..... I do have a feeling that the front was cladded by someone not wholly apposed to the third reich?

When we go to SXSW I really want to try and find someone willing to drive just outside Austin to visit this place.

Hamilton Pool Preserve is a natural pool that was created when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to massive erosion thousands of years ago. The pool is located about 23 miles (37 km) west of Austin, Texas off Highway 71. One of the most outstanding features of the pool is its 45 foot (14 m) waterfall that spills from the dome above. It centres on The Human Race somewhat of a supergroup with whom Kasms and about everyone else I can think of are affiliated by members. Please email me with any screaming errors, i did this mostly out of my head so it might not be exact. This map is by no means complete, in constant flux and will be work in progress for some time. It will one day cover an area the size of a football pitch.

Having a real interest in sleep disorders in particular sleep paralysis and its relation to accounts of alien abduction/devil ancarnate I found this new article really interesting.LINK Most people I have talked to about this have suffered from sleep paralysis at one point in their life and there are many theories as to why it happens. I've had it but I think that was because I spent a day drinking blue and green cocktails in the sun. I feel bad for people who have it all time. scary.

While on tour in NY with KASMs I met Dash Snow through some friends of mine. Dash Snow as you may well know is a well known NY artist who became prominent after Saatchi bought up his work, he predominantly worked with photography but was also part of the graffiti scene known as the IRAK crew.

I met Snow in a bar called Sweet & Vicious, a bar he drank in regularly. I have to say he was very drunk but was determined to get me to go to a cool club called Lit a few blocks away which was the only place in NY I found you could freely smoke in. At this time it was unknown to me he was battling a drug addiction. We all met up a few days later to go and see one of his friend’s exhibitions in Chelsea. This is where the photo below was taken of me and Dash Snow and the last time I met him. Snow never had a mobile phone and was difficult to contact to meet up but you could be sure to find him in Sweet & Vicious with friends.

Snow died on the evening of July 13, 2009 at Lafayette House, a hotel in lower Manhattan from a drug overdose. I am not sure what exactly happened but incredibly sad.

Here was the man again, this time without his vehicle. We were instantly on edge; we had encountered him the night before and knew of his inability to converse in even pigeon reason. Previously during a thrashing rain storm the Brat had stumbled out into the mud to enquire about the cattle swarm that had held our convoy in a kettle neck. It was a bonafide question as we had been inside the vectra for days, run low on supplies and the claustrophobia had begun to set in like cockroaches under our fettered skins. We should have realised what we were dealing with when met with utter indifference and the makings of a superiority complex.

This time Rachel-Mary felt the brunt of his frustration, a lifetime of unanswered hate mail and cry jerking compensated in him abusing his strange authority within this micro society. Firstly one of his sentries grabbed our wrists and yanked our privileges away, we were not resistant even though our six rider beers were starting to take their elusive effect. Calorgas had been left scratched and we were all dazed by the whirlwind of confrontation. The magic bracelets had allowed us into their inner sanctum but now we were denied, confined to the grass around our convoy. We waited quietly to be escorted offsite, apparently the national authorities had been called to back up their representative unit. Chinese whispers amongst the crew with the man at its helm had led them to believe we were responsible for all society’s ills and there was no consoling them.

Our speaker knew her fate, exclusivity had been violently pulled away and we had nothing left to do but wait by the roadside. We found common ground with our guard. He was detached from the plight of either party and stood silently monitoring the situation. He was a man of the world and you could see from his eyes he had experienced true war and was entirely bemused.

Walker had luckily found a couple fluent in tolerance and was carefully deliberating payment for the charade. The brat was unusually speechless. I could do nothing but send a telegram to Doigmatic and inform him of the situation and its ensuing hilarity. From the corner of my eye I saw Calor sit down and spark up, she hadn’t done that for weeks and I knew immediately that she felt responsible for the entire debacle, her gushing apology had been met with insistent apathy and she had been told her actions would amount her to nothing.

Previously that afternoon we had turned a tune together in a former nazi circus tent. The natives seemed to enjoy the spectacle which culminated in the girl somersaulting into the drums and laying in a spent heap amongst them. The drum keeper was immediately irate and I began to try and ascertain the extent of the damage. There was nothing that could be dome to tranquilize his anger; the man had become strangely attached to his hired kit. Walker returned from his deliberations and informed us that the damage had been inconsequential; a small scratch to the largest of the drums. As we were escorted off site to the living soundtrack of Noah and the Whale the venom of the man and his sidekicks bore into our backs. In the distance a few of the assembly from the earlier show attempted to gather together a revolt but their attempts were in vain as at that point we only wanted to be free from this compound and sample the delights of a fish restaurant in the nearby village of Shap.

Try this Pyramid Power experiment, and amaze yourself:

Take a piece of paper. Cut a square about two-and-a-half inches on each side, and fold it from top to bottom. Open it up again. Fold it from side to side and open it up again. You now have a square piece of paper creased into four smaller squares. Fold it from corner to corner, open it and fold it along the other diagonal, corner to corner. Now you have a square divided into eight triangles. Pinching it along the diagonals, push it into a star shape.

Take a needle and a little ball of Blu-tac. Stick the eye of the needle in, so the sharp tip points straight up, and place the paper pyramid on it like a hat. The needle’s point should be at the centre of the paper where the creases meet, without piercing it, so the pyramid balances. A light breath or a touch of the finger will set the pyramid spinning smoothly.

Here’s the amazing part. Without touching it or breathing on it, simply by cupping your hands around it, you can make the pyramid spin. This is not air currents or body heat or sleight of hand. It is psychic power.

That got rid of one of those outstanding things to do before i'm thirty, I got a special pat on the back from mum and just need to have a baby now....... Along with the recording I am pleased that we did the album artwork ourselves; Scott took the photo for the cover, I made the costume Rachel wears and Rory was the lighting tech photoshop whizz kid who bought it all together.

‘Male Bonding’ - To be honest I never thought this would end up being a single. This song took the longest to finish of all the album tracks - it originally was like a krautrock-esque ten-minute epic of cascading repetition and delay, but it somehow turned into a tasty slice of pop-pumpkin pie with the help of some strange violin stabs and some retarded synthesisers at the end. Oh, and it was named after this awesome band we know.

‘Insects’ - This is one of our slower, more dense numbers; slightly more well behaved, less puerile, quite heavy, not quite doom though but heavy enough. I'm a fan of the call and response vocals from Rachel and Gemma, plus it's got some tasty clicky-rim drum bullshit.

‘Taxidermy’ - This was our first single - this album version is quite a different recording though, as the original was just a band practise recording and had a ton of energy and snottiness. I hate re-recording stuff - I think it destroys the integrity of what the song originally was when it was fresh. In a perfect world songs would be written, practised for long enough so that you can make it though to the end without having to stop, and recorded before you've got too comfy in your boots. However, this version turned out pretty good - it's the oldest songs on the album and I’m glad it hung in there and made the record.

‘Spayed’ - We had this random violin thing I recorded hanging around for a while, we ended up putting it on a sampler, effecting it with some delay/reverb et cetera, then Rachel triggered it with a stick while singing at the same time. It was quite freeform - we had bits but no structure as such, and it just kind of came together as we recorded it live. It's a more drone-y, dirge-y, beast of a song, a sound similar to an old track called 'Elevator' we recorded a while back. We're big fans of this song and we'd happily write more songs that sound like this. Also I'm not sure what the lyrics are about but apparently it’s pretty deep, so listen closely and have your soul cleansed.

‘K.R.I.H.’ - The second oldest song on the album, written when we were all very new at playing with each other and were still not quite sure what we were trying to do. It starts off with a quasi-Melvins riff and turns into some kinda of driving Sonic-Youth-y keg party at the end.

‘Don't Hit The Bottom’ - A slightly different-sounding song, which our label described as sounding a bit John McGeoch-era Siouxsie and the Banshees, which isn't a bad thing and not toooo far off the mark. We've been compared to the Banshees a few times in the past which I generally think is a pretty sloppy comparison, but acceptable in this case. It's slightly epic (a dirty word) and more complicated than a lot of our songs, while at the same time still being quite upbeat. There's even a piano or two in there and with it being close to being a mammoth four minutes it's like our ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

‘Bone You’ - First song on side two (remember side two?), which is currently an imaginary side as the vinyl still needs to be etched and sent to the factory. Probably the most hectic and chaotic sounding song. Our second single: fun, puerile, with a slight tinge of exotica.

‘Trenchfoot’ - this was originally titled 'Christopher Robin' and then 'Armies of the Watchtower', but we decided this sounded a tad too Lord of the Rings/apocalyptic Jimi Hendrix. We stuck with the war theme though when we chose ‘Trenchfoot’. It starts slow then there's one long build up to a speed chaos chariot-riding climax. We still can't play this song properly.

‘Siren Sister’ - We originally released this as the B-side of our first single - a bad mistake as we didn't want to put a B-side on the record as it's our best song, we disrespected it by relegating to B-side status. I also like the way the title sounds like it was named after the town Cirencester.

‘Mackerel Sky’ - I really like this song too, but although we recorded it live I'm not sure we've ever managed to capture it as well as when we play it live (we recorded this song previously, too). I like it more than the original basement recording, though. It's got some chunky bits in it.

‘Toil and Trouble’ - ‘Mackerel Sky’ and ‘Toil and Trouble’ are one song really, as we normally play them together live. It was separated from its twin on our EP but we kindly reunited it with its other half on the album. It's kind of like our original menacing and dirgy statement of intent. Again, this is a live favourite for us, and I could quite happily play that same guitar line for ten minutes… although I play the guitar at the end of this song like fat-fingered pillock, slap-dash, but maybe that's the point. I think I might prefer the original, I dunno. Good marauding bassline on this one.

‘Murmur’ - We wrote this song in half an hour the night before we recorded it, and along with ‘Siren Sister’ and ‘Spayed’ it turned out to be one of our favourites. It's a really complete sounding and together song. We even managed to put a reggae beat in it without it sounding shit… I know that doesn't sound good on paper!
